Joy in the face of trials

Was reading the book of Philippians (in the Bible) today, and the writer Paul was actually in jail facing the threat of death from persecutors of Christianity. Yet, he wrote Philippians a joyful and optimistic book saying “Yes, and I will continue to rejoice (Phi 1:18)” and asking the church in Philippi to “Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! (Phi 4:4)” It goes against any sanity to be joyful in face of death threats if there wasn’t a greater purpose that Paul wanted to achieve – (Phil 1:20-21) I eagerly expect and hope that I will in no way be ashamed, but will have sufficient courage so that now as always Christ will be exalted in my body, whether by life or by death. For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain.

After reading chapter 1 of the Philippians, I was just touched by the joy and love Paul had for Jesus and also for the church in Philippi, that he was still praying for them (Phi 1:9-11) and delighting over them (1:3-4) even when he’s suffering. When I’m facing trials, I tend to go into self-pity mode, my attention will be on myself and my love and concern for others will decrease. I’m still a sinner in need of God’s amazing grace. This life is a journey of growing into Christ-likeness, pls be patient with me! Christ’s work still in progress.

THEN, look how far the love of God will take you:

Therefore, one can conclude with mathematical certainty that:

While Hard Work and Knowledge will get you close, and Attitude will
get you there, but only the Love of God can give you more than 100% in life!

OK, truthfully speaking, I never thought that I’ll start a blog before. I’m not really very IT savvy and alway preferred the paper and pen approach to journaling. Blogs are literally the voices of people in the virtual arena, and theres a desire to stay connected with times. Haha so please show patience with me, as I discover my way around. Really hope that through this blog, I’ll be able to share my life experiences with you and hopefully vice versa.
